The invention relates to a mixture of unsymmetric bisphosphites, to a process for preparation thereof, to the reaction thereof with metals to give mixtures comprising complexes of the bisphosphites and the metal, and to the use thereof as a catalytically active composition in hydroformylation reactions, and also to the hydroformylation reaction itself.

A mixture comprising the unsymmetric compounds (Ia′) and (Ia″): wherein each R1, independently, is selected from the group consisting of -Me, -tBu, and —OMe; each R2, independently, is selected from the group consisting of -Me, -tBu, and —OMe; each R3, independently, is selected from the group consisting of -Me, -tBu, and —OMe; each R4, independently, is selected from the group consisting of -Me, -tBu, and —OMe; and P can enter into further bonds, and the compounds (Ia′) and (Ia″) are not identical.
