PURPOSE:To record signals of two or more frequencies under the optimum condition on a vertical magnetic recording medium by means of a ring type magnetic head, by setting the ampere value of a high-frequency current impressed upon the magnetic head together with a low-frequency current under a superposed condition to a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:When recording is made on a vertical recording medium having its easily magnetized axis in the direction normal to the magnetic surface by impressing a high-frequency signal current and low-frequency signal current upon a ring-like head under a superposed condition, with the signal currents having different frequencies, the high-frequency signal current is set to a value larger than one at which the reproduced output level of the high-frequency signal reaches the maximum value. When the high- frequency signal current is set in such a way, the reproduced output of the low-frequency signal becomes larger and the drop in the reproduced output of the high-frequency signal is suppressed to a little quantity, when compared with the case where the high- frequency signal current is set to the value at which the reproduced output level of the high-frequency signal reaches the maximum value. Therefore, the S/N can be improved and signals of two or more frequencies can be recorded under the optimum condition.
