摘要 PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a monitor and an automatic aperture device, to attain automatic exposure adjustment and miniaturization by providing a function where a specific pattern is picked up and the number of picture elements to be picked up is adjusted to a satisfied number so as to attain exposure adjustment in executing the exposure adjustment. CONSTITUTION:A binary picture data detected by an image pickup element 2 is transferred to a memory 3 in a picture processing section and stored. Then a CPU4 of the picture processing section access the memory and counts the data number representing sensitization. The processing such as calculation of the position of the sensitized part is executed and the result is outputted externally. In a DRAM type image pickup element, when the exposure is adjusted while the sensitizing time is made gradually longer, the element has a characteristic that the proper exposure is obtained in nearly double sensizing time by obtaining the sensitizing the where the pattern is discrimated to be white only as shown in Graph in Fig., and the automatic exposure is adjusted by storing the double sensitizing time and using it as the sensitizing time in the operating state.
