The invention belongs to the field of chemistry. The process which forms the subject of the invention is of the type comprising: a stage for bringing nitrogen and hydrogen into contact with the production of a reaction gas containing ammonia; the isolation of ammonia; the division of the circulation gas, remaining after isolation of ammonia, into two parts, one of which (blowing gas) is treated in a circuit for separating the remaining ammonia, for isolating the hydrogen concentrate using polymer membranes and at a temperature of 0 to 50 DEG C, and for returning the isolated hydrogen concentrate into the synthesis process, while the other part is sent back to the abovementioned stage for bringing the gases into contact, and is characterised in that the blowing gas is withdrawn at a proportion of 1 to 10 % of the total volume of the circulation gas, and the isolation of hydrogen concentrate is carried out using a polyvinyl trimethylsilane membrane at a pressure of 15.2 to 45.6 x 10<5>Pa. The ammonia is used especially for the production of nitric acid and plastics.
