The shut off piston 3 slides freely in the casing 1, 2, carries an O-ring seal 26 and is forced into its open position by a spring 37. A flexible membrane 24 is mounted between the casing and the piston, and the latter is traversed by a calibrated duct 29 which passes from one side of the membrane to the other. When the output flow rate exceeds a predetermined value, the piston mounts against the spring 37, and the seal 26 is applied against a frustoconical seat 18 of the casing. Application to the safety of very pure gas circuits. <IMAGE>
