PURPOSE:To obtain automatically a copy image in which unnecessary parts are cut and increase the quantity of copies per hour by increasing the scanning speed of a lamp carriage at copy unnecessary parts. CONSTITUTION:An operator reads coordinate positions of the starting point and ending point of a copy unnecessary part 32 and inputs them to a CPU6 through a console panel 8. The CPU6 determines the start and end timing of a skip and total scanning time on the basis of the coordinate positions and the size of a copy form 4. Then, the lamp carriage 1 moves at a prescribed scanning speed in a copy cycle and an image of an original 3 is formed on the surface of a photosensitive drum 2. When the carriage 1 paases under a register guide 10 and a timer 11 detects the skip start timing, the moving speed of the carriage 1 is increased and when the timer 11 detects the skip end timing, the moving speed of the carriage 1 is returned to the prescribed scanning speed again.
