PURPOSE:To obtain the titled cast iron having superior wear and scuffing resistances and damaging hardly a material along which the cast iron slides even when the rocker arm made of the cast iron is incorporated into an engine using highly leaded gasoline by regulating the composition and structure of cast iron for a rocker arm. CONSTITUTION:This cast iron consists of, by weight, 1.0-4.0% C, 0.5-15.0% Cr, 1.0-20.0% Mo, 0.05-10.0% Ni, <=2.0% Al and the balance Fe. A matrix structure is a mixed structure contg. very small amounts of martensite and pearlite structures in an austenite structure contg. no deposited graphite as a base. The matrix structure contains dispersed and crystallized fine carbides.
