The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for the monitoring of the lacquer film curtain on lacquer casting machines which, operating in a continuous throughflow process, are especially used for the lacquer coating of wooden panels. According to the invention, the object is achieved in that the lacquer collecting trough is zonally divided into chambers, and a reduced filling height in any zone as a result of a disturbed lacquer film curtain is indicated by means of these chambers via a filling state display in connection with an applied measuring pressure.
