A method is described for adjusting demodulators (4) which are disposed together with a microprocessor (2) and a modulator (3) in a data transmission device (1). Following recovery by the demodulator (4), the digital transmission data transmitted from the microprocessor (2) to the modulator (3) are fed back to the microprocessor (2) as digital received data and are compared with the transmitted data. The modulator (3) and demodulator (4) are connected by means of a changeover switch (7) for this purpose. In the event of a discrepancy between the transmitted and received data, the demodulator (4) is adjusted by the microprocessor (2) for re-balancing.
