A transmission control apparatus comprises a rotation speed sensor (3) sensing the rotation speed of a main shaft (4), rotation speed sensors (1, 21) sensing the rotation speeds of shift gears (8a-8e), actuators (9a, 9b, 9c) effecting shift changes, and shifted position sensors (14a-14f, 15a-15c) sensing the shifted position of clutch gears, and controls the actuators in response to the output signals of the rotation speed sensors. In the apparatus, a clutch gear (10a, 10b, 10c) associated with a selected shift gear is automatically restored to the neutral position when completion of the gear shift is not detected upon lapse of a predetermined length of time after starting of the gear shift. |
