PURPOSE:Polished rice is sprayed with an aqueous saccharide and stirred to bring rice grains into contact with one another for effecting the transfer of the aqueous solution whereby the water content in the polished rice is increased whithout breakage or crushing of grains by means of a small-scale installation. CONSTITUTION:Polished rice is sent into tank 2 by bucket conveyer 1 and a prescribed feed rate of polished rice is fed by a meteric feeder 3 through the pipe 4 into the moisturizer 5. A prescribed feed rate of polished rice from the feeder 3 is sprayed with a prescribed amount of an aqueous saccharide by means of a metric sprayer 6 in the moisturizer 5, agitation blades are rotated to allow individual grains to rotate and revolve. The grains closely contacts with one another so that the aqueous saccharide forms uniform coating films on the grain surfaces in a short time. Thus, each grain is coated with the aqueous solution uniformly and water is absorbed at an even rate into the starch layer in grains. |
