The present invention addresses the problem of providing a damper device whereby the range of discharge rates over which the discharge precision of ink from a recording head is stable can be increased relative to existing technologies. To solve said problem, a damper device (20) is provided with the following: valves (23, 26) for opening and closing connecting channels (20e, 20f); springs (24, 27) that bias the valves (23, 26) in the direction whereby said valves (23, 26) close the connecting channels (20e, 20f); a pressure-receiving plate (29) that is subjected to atmospheric pressure and changes the volume of a head-side chamber (20a) by changing in position; and rod members (30, 31) that are disposed between the valves (23, 26) and the pressure-receiving plate (29) and transmit force from the valves (23, 26) to the pressure-receiving plate (29) or vice versa. This damper device (20) is characterized in that: the position of the pressure-receiving plate (29) is different each time the rod members (30, 31) become capable of transmitting force from the valves (23, 26) to the pressure-receiving plate (29) or vice versa; and the total connecting-channel cross-sectional area left open by the valves is different depending on the states of the valves. |
