A spacer for an electronic component is proposed, which is provided, for example in a flat-pack integrated circuit version, with connecting electrodes which project on the sides of the housing. With the aid of the spacer (3), such components (4) can be arranged on a printed-circuit board (1) of an electrical switching apparatus such that they are free of mechanical stresses, for which purpose their housing (7) is inserted into a retaining frame (8) and the previously bent ends of the connecting electrodes (5) extend through openings (10) in a guide edge (9) of the spacer (3) and holes (6) in the printed-circuit board (1) on its soldering side (2), where, together with all the other components, they are connected in a single soldering process to the associated conductor tracks. The openings (10) are provided with an insertion aid (11) in order to prevent buckling or mechanical stressing of the relatively thin connecting electrodes (5) which are arranged closely side-by-side. <IMAGE>
