<p>PURPOSE:To automate prevention of hunting by providing a looper roll perpendicularly to the traveling direction of a strip, detecting the hunting thereof and controlling the rolling reduction of a rolling mill in accordance with the information on the shift thereof. CONSTITUTION:The looper roll 14 which is pressed perpendicularly to the traveling direction X of the strip 12 is provided and the information on the shift of the strip 12 in the transverse direction is determined as a difference in the reaction from the strip 12. The difference in the reaction is detected as the revolution of a supporting arm 24 by a shift detector 18 and is inputted to a calculator 20. The calculator 20 calculates the correction rolling reduction on the work side 10B and drive side 10C of the rolling mill so as to eliminate the shift and operates a screw-down device 22 via a screw-down control device 21. The difference in the transverse gap of the work rolls is corrected by such mechanism and therefore the hunting of the strip 12 is automatically eliminated.</p> |
