PURPOSE:To attain to accurately detect a moving distance, by providing a tracking ball to a vehicle and detecting speed components in separate rotary detecting directions by two detectors mutually crossing at right angles in a rotary direction while applying time integration to the speed of each tracking ball. CONSTITUTION:A tracking ball 1 for detecting a running distance is attached in a state freely rotatable to all 360 deg.-directions and the rotary speed thereof is calculated from outputs of two detectors 4, 5 consisting of rotary rollers 4a, 5a and pulse encoders 4b, 5b, and mutually crossing at right angles in a rotary direction. The rotary speed of the tracking ball is calculated every moment by an operation circuit 10 and the calculated value is timewise integrated by an integration circuit 11 to output the moving distance (l) of a vehicle while a rotary direction theta(t) is calculated by the operation circuit 12. The outputs of integration circuits 11, 13 are added to a display device 14 to display a moving distance. |
