PURPOSE:To improve the arc cutting property and welding resistance by heating a molten Ag alloy as a base contg. Sn, In, etc. in an atmosphere of gaseous O2 to form a composition consisting of prescribed percentages of Ag, ZnO, SnO2, In2O3, Li2O and an Fe group metal. CONSTITUTION:One or more among Zn, Sn and In, Li and an Fe group metal are melted and mixed with Ag as a base. The resulting molten Ag alloy is heated in an atmosphere of gaseous O2 to form a composition consisting of 0.02- 1wt% one or more among ZnO, SnO2 and In2O3, 0.1-3wt% Li2O, 0.1-1wt% Fe group metal and the balance Ag (expressed in terms of metals).
