PURPOSE:To improve the wear resistance of a brush and a commutator or a slip ring forming a sliding contact device by specifying the compositions of alloys for the constituent parts. CONSTITUTION:A brush is made of an alloy obtd. by adding 0.5-10wt% one or more among Sb, Te, Mo, Pb, Se, As and Zn to a conventional alloy consisting of 30-50wt% Au, 20-40wt% Ag and 20-40wt% Pd without changing the ratio in the composition. A commutator or a slip ring is made of an Ag-3-12%Cu alloy or an Ag-3-12%Cu-<=5%Cd alloy. The resulting brush and commutator or slip ring have superior wear resistance, and a sliding contact device manufactured by combining them produces very little dust due to wear, hardly generates noise, and has low and stable contact resistance. |
