PURPOSE:To improve the wear resistance of a brush and a commutator or a slip ring forming a sliding contact device by specifying the compositions of alloys for the constituent parts. CONSTITUTION:The brush is made of an alloy obtd. by adding one or more among W, V and Ta to a conventional alloy consisting of 30-50wt% Au, 20- 40wt% Ag and 20-40wt% Pd without changing the ratio in the composition. The commutator or the slip ring is made of an Ag-3-12%Cu alloy or an Ag- 3-12%Cu-<=5%Cd alloy. The resulting brush and commutator or slip ring have superior wear resistance, and the sliding contact device manufactured by combining them undergoes wear by a small extent, hardly generates noise, and has low and stable contact resistance. |
