PRODUCTION OF THIN SHEET MATERIAL HAVING CORROSION RESISTANCE AND WEAR RESISTANCE

PURPOSE:To form a thin sheet which obviates exfoliation and has high strength and resistance to heat, corrosion and wear and to extend the life thereof by cooling continuously and quickly a cobalt-base corrosion- and wear-resistant alloy and heat-resistant brazing material into the joined thin sheet state or depositing a ceramic layer by evaporation on one side thereof if necessary. CONSTITUTION:The Co-base corrosion- and wear-resistant alloy melt such as hardly workable ''Stellite(R)'' and the heat resistant brazing material melt are continuously and quickly cooled to the joined thin sheet state by a known quick cooling and casting method. Ceramics such as TiN or TiC may be thereafter deposited by evaporation on the exposed surface of the Co-base alloy if necessary. The thin sheet has high strength and resistance to heat, corrosion and wear without exfoliation and has the much longer life.
