In a wing hinge, especially for motor-vehicle doors, which consists of two hinge halves equipped with respective gudgeons and connected to one another in an articulated manner via a hinge pin, and in which one hinge half is connected to the hinge pin with a running fit and the other hinge half with a fixed fit, it is proposed, in order to secure the vehicle door, fitted into the shell, in the end opening position at least during the painting of the vehicle, that a simple braking or holding device, which appropriately comprises an element, braking arm or holding arm, connected fixedly in terms of rotation to the hinge pin and, via this, to one hinge half, and a support on the hinge half arranged with a running fit on the hinge pin, for example a braking face or a catch recess, be constructionally connected to the hinge and be so designed and arranged that, after performing its function, it can be brought into a completely ineffective position.
