In a device for measuring round wood (1) having a measuring instrument (9) composed of at least two sensors (10, 11) which are situated opposite one another and between which the round wood (1) which is to be measured and moves during the measurement operation in its longitudinal direction relative to the measuring instrument (9) lies on a longitudinal holder (2), the reliability of the measurement can be increased by providing that the longitudinal holder (2) is fixed in the longitudinal direction of the round wood (1), that the measuring instrument (9) is mounted in a movable fashion in the longitudinal direction, and that the longitudinal bearing (2) is constructed as a lifting bearing by means of which the round wood (1) can be moved from below between the sensors (10, 11).
