PURPOSE:To avoid troubles of selection of homonyms by decomposing Kanji (Chinese character) in a sentence, where Kanji and Kana (Japanese syllabary) are mixed, into elementary segments of radicals or the like and inputting them with keys. CONSTITUTION:Chinese numerals and Katakana (square form of Japanese syllabary) are added to crossing strokes and multistroke Kanji constituting elements of 5 strokes or more to constitute elementary segment groups consisting essentially of radicals of Kanji, and keys are provided in accordance with these groups. In principle, elementary segments are inputted in order from the top, and the input column is shifted from the left to the right by the input of '' '', and all elementary segments of one character are inputted in one line. A control circuit moves elementary segments to columns in accordance with '' '' to generate an artificial Kanji. For example, when Kanji ''ei'' is inputted with seven elementary segments in one line, the control circuit moves them to rows and columns in accordance with '' '' to fill up 7 longitudinal and transverse sections, and seven sections are compressed into one section to generate an artificial Kanji, and this Kanji is registered, and a prescribed Kanji is outputted if it coincides with standard Kanji.
