In a deflection fitting for safety belts with an oval round steel element which is used to deflect the belt and which has a rotatable supporting and guiding roller on one of its legs, the round steel element is provided, in the region of its curves, with belt guiding elements which are used to support the belt. Means which cause braking of the supporting and guiding roller during crashes are provided between the belt guiding elements and supports arranged at the ends of the latter on the one hand and the supporting and guiding roller on the other hand. These means, together with the belt guiding elements, ensure that the belt is favourably supported even during collisions.
