PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium which obviates blooming and uneven coating, has good lubricity, lessens output decrease, output fluctuation, etc. and improves S/N, etc. by providing an overcoat layer contg. arom. carboxylic acid on a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:The overcoat layer obtd. by incorporating the arom. carboxylic acid expressed by the formul [R is (substd.) alkyl, (substd.) alkoxy, (substd.) aryl alkyl of 1-30C, n is 1-5, l is 1-3, n+l<=6] and further the arom. carboxyic acid having a substituent at the OH, NH2 benzene ring as a lubricating agent into a binder such as thermosetting resin, thermoplastic resin or resin curable by electron rays is formed on the magnetic layer of a coatin type or formed by vapor deposition of a thin ferromagnetic metallic film. The magnetic tape or the like having excellent lubricity without blooming with the amt. of the lubricant to be used smaller than he amt. of said agent to be incorporated into the magnetic layer, is free from jitter and has excellent wear resistance and durability and good runnability and winding style is thus obtd. |
