PURPOSE:To use just a piece of detecting lens to attain the reduction of parts cost as well as the assembling manhour and also to improve the assembling accuracy, by using a lens containing a spherical form on one side and a cylindrical form on the other side to a detecting optical system. CONSTITUTION:A detection lens 9 of a detecting optical system is made of glass or resin and contains a convex and spherical side 9a and a convex and cylindrical side 9b. Thus the function so far attained by two lenses can be secured just by a single sheet of lens 9. Thus the high reliability is secured without producing a working accuracy and error of a lens barrel nor a distance error between lenses. This reduces the cost and decreases the assembling manhour and improves the assembling accuracy of an optical pickup.
