PURPOSE:To simplify the circuit and to improve the reliability by providing an error location introducing device where (t+1) sets of value is decided as coefficients of the t-order location polynomial regardless of the number of errors (r) and sets of error positions and (t-r) sets of 0s are outputted. CONSTITUTION:A syndrome generator 1 generates a syndrome from a reception series in decoding a BCH code possible for t-fold error correction. The error location introducing device 14 has a means 15 deciding (t+1) sets of values as coefficients of the t-order location polynomial regardlss of the error numbers (r) from the generated syndrome and a means 16 for outputting (r)sets of error locations and t-r set of 0s. The error amount introducing device 5 introduces the amount of error based on the introduced error location and the syndrome. An error correcting device 6 correct the error of reception series based on the introduced error location and error amount.
