PURPOSE:To complete the mixture of fuel and an oxidizing agent for complete combustion and to diffuse combustion flames by a construction wherein a fuel spray burner equipped with an assistant swirler is provided in the axis of the head of the main body of a burner and a high-speed jet burner is disposed in the outer peripheral part of the burner. CONSTITUTION:An assistant oxidizing agent 12 having a certain axial flow velocity component is injected from an assistant swirler 11 provided in the head of a burner into an oxidizing agent 5 in the main stream in the direction of tangent, so that a vortex flow in the head part of the burner is disturbed while a circulative flow in the central part of the burner is stabilized. Moreover, a mixed jet (nozzle injection speed: 200-300m/s) of air and fuel is discharged in the axial direction toward the vicinity of a boundary layer 7 from a high-speed jet auxiliary burner 10 disposed in the outer peripheral part of the assistant swirler 11, so that a flame (combustion reaction gas) shut up in a forced vortex region is diffused in a spontaneous vortex region and thereby a substantial combustion zone in the burner is expanded.
