PURPOSE:To reduce a space to be secured behind the fan upon oscillating it by a method wherein a guard body is oscillated about the axis thereof and the center of oscillation is set at the front half of the guard body while the guard body, located before the axis in a prior art, is located at the rear side of the axis. CONSTITUTION:When an oscillating motor device 18 is operated, the main body 4 of the fan including the guard body 9 is oscillated about the axis 15a, inserted into and supported by a bearing body 6. The axis 15a is formed at the lower half side of the guard body 9 and the center of oscillation is set at the front half of the guard body 9. According to this constitution, the necessary dimension from the fore side to the rear side of the oscillating space becomes (b) from the front surface of the guard body 9 toward the rear side thereof. The dimension (b) becomes about 3/4 as compared with the same dimension in prior art. Accordingly, the rear space, necessary for the oscillating motion, may be reduced. Further, the necessary space at right and left sides of the fan may also be reduced.
