PURPOSE:To facilitate the calibrating operation of a potential sensor by allowing the potential sensor to rotate around its holding part as a fulcrum. CONSTITUTION:Switches 5a and 5c are open and a switch 5c is closed during the calibrating operation. Therefore, an electrostatic charging corotron 2 is not in operation and the output voltage of a power source 3b for the calibration is impressed to the external conductor 2b of the corotron. Then, the potential sensor 4 is stopped perpendicularly to the external conductor 2b and the sizes of respective parts are so determined that the gap (d) between the tip part of the potential sensor 4 and the external conductor 2b is equal to the gap (d) between the tip part of the sensor 4 and the surface of a photosensitive body 1c during copying machine operation. The external conductor 2b is disconnected from a ground potential point and impressed with the output voltage of the power source 3 for the calibration to calibrates the sensor 4, so the need to replace the photosensitive body 1c with a dummy photosensitive body during the calibration of the sensor 4 is eliminated to facilitate the calibrating operation. |
