摘要 PURPOSE:To perform the preprocessing in order to fill satisfactorily a gap by scanning vertically the squarish 8-shaped 7-segment digit, and converting the white picture elements of a short part into black picture elements. CONSTITUTION:The picture signal corresponding to the squarish 8-shaped 7-segment digit read by a picture input part 1 is binary coded with the proper threshold value at a binary coding part 2 and sent to a picture preprocessing part 3. The part 3 scans vertically said 7-segment digit. The gaps produced at the half position of the height of the 7-segment digit are shown in the form of the continuous white picture elements produced at the middle of the continuation of black picture elements produced in response to the segments existing at the upper and lower side of the gaps. Thus the highly efficient preprocessing is possible by using a means which converts the white picture elements at a part where the continuous length of the white picture elements is smaller than the prescribed length into black picture elements.
