PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having excellent wear resistance and durability without powder dislodging and blooming by incorporating a binder, specific phosphate and specific ester compd. into a magnetic layer thereby improving the dispersibility of the magnetic powder and the lubricity of the magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic laye incorporated therein with the phosphate expressed by the formula I (R<1> is H or CH3, n is 1 or 2) in order to improve the dispersibility of the magnetic powder and the 4,5-epoxycyclohexane-1,2-dicarboxylate compd. expressed by the formula II (R<2>, R<3> are alkyl of 12-18C and may be same or different) as a lubricating agent is provided on a base. The phosphate contributes to uniform dispersion of the fine particulate magnetic power into the binder resin and the ester expressed by the formula II has a good lubricating effect. Both obviate generation of blooming in all environments. The magnetic recording medium having an excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristic, wear resistance and durability is thus obtd.
