PURPOSE:To contrive enhancement of printing speed and reduction in weight and cost of a printer, by a method wherein the number of solenoids provided is reduced, and rotation of selecting plates and passing of an electric current to solenoids are conducted in an overlapping manner. CONSTITUTION:Type selection for type wheels 7a-7n is sequentially conducted from the lower digit place side by the cooperation of the solenoids 2, movable plates 4, a group of selecting plates 5, driving wheels 6 and the type wheels 7, followed by pressing a platen roller 10 against the type wheels 7a-7n through an ink ribbon 8 and a printing paper 9, whereby images in one line are simultaneously printed. A little before the driving wheel 6 corresponding to a digit plate is engaged to a trigger plate 11, a pulse signal is outputted from a digit place detector 42, and based on the signal, an electric current is passed to one or all of the solenoids 2a-2d in correspondence with a character to be printed at the digit place, and the passing of the electric current is continued for a predetermined short period of time. |
