AUTOMATIC ANSWERING TELEPHONE SET

PURPOSE:To improve operability by switching an operation mode on the basis of an output of a detecting circuit for detecting the existence of an incoming message when a switch for specifying switching from an automatic answering operation mode to a call recording mode or a message recording/reproducing mode is operated. CONSTITUTION:An identification signal detecting circuit 22 detects an outgoing message (OGM) identification signal recorded in an OGM section of an OGM tape at the termination of the message. A tape detector 27 detects the loading of an incoming message (ICM) tape for determing the automatic answering mode of the telephone set on the basis of the detected identification signal. The switch SW specifies the switching of the operation mode of the detector 27 from the automatic answering mode to the call recording mode or the message recording/ reproducing mode. When the switch SW is operated, the operation mode is switched under the condition that an output indicating the loading of the ICM tape is generated from the detector 27.
