PURPOSE:To eliminate practically a rise in residual potential even when an electrophotographic sensitive body is repeatedly used and to obtain a fine copy by electrostatically charging the surface of the sensitive body, imagewise exposing it, and carrying out development in the presence of a developer while applying development bias. CONSTITUTION:A charge generating layer having <=1mum thickness after drying is formed on an electrically conductive substrate such as an Al plate, a Cu plate or a polyethylene terephthalate film coated with Al by vapor deposition by applying a dispersion of a charge generating material ground to <=1mum grain size in a resin soln. by spraying, bar coating or other method. When the substrate is in the form of a sheet, it is passed between two metallic rolls or metallic and fibrous rolls which are in press contact with each other and have well polished surfaces to increase the surface smoothness of the charge generating layer on the substrate. In case of a metallic drum, the drum is rotated while keeping the charge generating layer on the drum in press contact with a polished metallic roll to make the surface of the layer smooth. An electrophotographic sensitive body is obtd. by coating the smooth charge generating layer with a charge transferring layer. |
