PURPOSE:To set up a selection flag for selecting a time counting means in a user program and to obtain a time sequence easily by selecting a count input signal from the external and an internal timer circuit. CONSTITUTION:A count input from a unit to be controlled is counted by a count input part 10 in an electronic type preset counter and a signal applied in each prescribed period is counted up by a numeral counting means 11. A program input part 18 to be used by a user is connected to a counter control circuit 14 and a clock is applied from the circuit 14 to a time counting means 13 in each prescribed period to count up the time by the clock. The counted time from the means 13 and a counted value from the means 11 are selected by a counted value selecting means 12 and the selected output is inputted to a comparing means 15. The means 15 compares the value applied from the circuit 14 through a comparison register 16 with the counted value selected by the means 12, and at the time of coincidence, an output circuit 17 outputs a coincidence output. A selection flag selected by the means 12 is set up in the user program to obtain the time sequence easily.
