PURPOSE:To obtain the titled fiber having low strength, high tensile elastic modulus, and excellent dyeability, stainproofing property, fatigue resistance and pill resistance, by melt-spinning polybutylene terephthalate through a profile nozzle having plural T-shaped slits arranged on a circle, and carrying out the drawing, crimping and heat-treatment of the fiber. CONSTITUTION:Polybutylene terephthalate is extruded in molten state through a profile nozzle having 3-6 T-shaped slits each having an area of 0.3-7mm.<2>. The ratio (a/b) of the width of the horizontal slit (a) to that of the vertical slit (b) is 1.1-1.5, and the horizontal slits are arranged on a circle directing the vertical slits toward the center of the circle. The extruded fiber is blasted with cooling air stream of 1-7m/sec at a part 4.5-50cm below the nozzle, and is taken up a draw ratio of >=150. The produced filament is drawn, crimped and heat-treated to obtain the objective fiber having the ratio (A/B) of the outer circumferential wall thickness A of the hollow part to the inner partition wall thickness B of 0.6-1.0, a tenacity of <=2.8g/d, a tensile elastic modulus of >=70%, a dyability of >=85% at 100 deg.C and >=95% at 110 deg.C.
