PURPOSE:To dope fluorine sufficienty into quartz series glass, to suppress the wastage of a reactor core pipe made of quartz and to prolong the life by subjecting the rod-shaped base material treated with dewatering to transparent vitrification treatment in the fluorine-contg. atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A rod-shaped base material 15 made of high-purity quartz series porous glass is inserted into the reactor core pipe 11 of a high-temp. furnace 12 in the rotatable state and subjected to dewatering treatment. After the rod- shaped base material 15 subjected to the dewatering is drawn up to upper part, the inside of the pipe 11 is made the fluorine atmosphere. Then, the base material 15 is descended into the pipe 11 and subjected to transparent vitrification. |
