PURPOSE:To obtain the titled centering device capable of centering the base material easily with high precision in a noncontacting state by arranging a light source and a photodetector on the same optical axis, emitting a finely throttled light beam from the light source, and arranging a base material in the middle of both light source and photodetector so that the material may cross the light beam. CONSTITUTION:The light emitted from a light source (He-Ne laser) 1 is branched with a light-transmitting mirror 2 to a light paths (a) and (b). The light passing through the light path (a) is throttled by a lens 4a into a small bore beam, pierced through an optical fiber base material 6, passed through a lens 4b, and sent to a photodetector 5a. Meanwhile, the light branched by the mirror 2 is introduced into a light path (c) with reflection 3a and 3b, and sent to a photodetector 5b through a lens 4c, the base material 6, and a lens 4d. And an optical axis leading from a mirror 3b to the photodetector 5b and an optical axis leading from the light source 1 to the detector 5b are vertically crossed, and the intersecting point is allowed to coincine with the center axis of a tubular heater 8. Consequently, the centering of the base material 6 can be carried out easily with high precision in a noncontacting state. |
