PURPOSE:To obtain silver brazing filler metal that eliminates generation of rust that causes discoloration and lowering of brazing strength after brazing by composing the brazing filler metal of solid solution of silver and copper of specified composition. CONSTITUTION:The silver brazing filler metal consists of solid solution of 74- 94wt% silver, 10-26% copper, and made by mixing granules of silver and copper, about 2mm.phi in diameter, at specified proportion, heating and melting at about 1,200 deg.C in reducing atmosphere and forming solid solution of silver and copper. When solidified, silver, high in melting point, is deposited first to form a film and prevents deposition of copper on the surface of the brazing filler metal and oxidation. Thus, discoloration of the silver brazing filler metal is prevented and strength of soldering is improved. |
