PURPOSE:To prevent surely exfoliation of a reinforcing layer even if said layer is strained as a result of thermal impact by interposing a needle like bonding property improving material such as whiskers into the reinforcing layer and forming said layer on the surface to be deposited of a matrix metal. CONSTITUTION:A coated film 7 in which the bonding property improving material 6 such as whiskers exist mixedly is formed on a casting mold 5 over the entire part for forming a piston head. Molten metal of an Al aloy, etc. is poured into the mold to embed the material 6 by casting, by which the piston body 8 as the matrix metal is cast and molded. The material 6 is thus projected and formed on the surface 9 to be deposited of the body 8, i.e., over the entire region of the piston head as if said material is implanted thereon. A ceramic material is then thermally sprayed to the surface 9 of the body 8, thereby forming the reinforcing layer 10.
