Apparatus for engagement with a damper blade (2) of a damper system comprises a shaft (8) which is driven and which is engaged with the blade (2) via a sleeve (10) and tube (4) which is part of the blade, there being a fusible connector (12) between the shaft (8) and sleeve (10) so that when there is an increase in temperature the connector (12) fuses and disconnects the shaft (8) and blade (2). The blade (2) is therefore not driven and returns to a closed position.
