<p>Acylated, hindered hexahydro pyrimidine of formula (I) is new (where R1-R4 are 1-6C alkyl when opt. substd. with (m)ethyl, or phenyl, aryl opt. substd. with 1-3 substs. comprising lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or hydroxyl and (R1 and R2), (R3 and R4) each can form a 4-7C cycloalkyl ring with thin respective C atoms; R5 and R6 are H, 1-6C alkyl or aralkyl and R5 and R6 may form a 5-7C cycloalkyl ring with their respective C atoms; R7 comprises 1-20C alkyl opt. substd. with up to 5 lower alkyls, arylalkyl, 3-12C cycloalkyl, aryl substd. with 1-3 substits. comprising lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or hydroxyl, -OR9, -NHR9, -ACOR10 or -N(H)ANHCOR10 where R9 is 1-20C alkyl which can be substd. with up to 5 lower alkyl or 5-11C cycloalkyl; A is 1-12C alkylene which can be substd. with up to 18C alkyl or alkenyl; 2-4C alkenylene; up to 12C cycloalkylene; up to 12C cycloalkenylene; up to 8C bicyclo-alkylene; up to 8C sicycloalkenylene or plenylene; and R10 comprises hydroxyl, lower alkoxy, phenoxy or a gp. (II) where R8 is H, 1-10C alkyl, 1-10 substd. alkyl, aralalkyl, hydroxyl, oxyl or -C(=O)-R11 where R11 is 1-20C alkyl which can be substd. with up to 5 lower alkyls consisting of 1-3 up to 18C alkyl). A compsn. using (I) as a light stabiliser is also claimed. (I) is used with plastics for film and fibre and stabilisers the material against deterioration resulting from exposure to UV light. Specific (I) includes 1-(alkenoyl)2,2,4,4,6 pentomethyl hexahydro pyrimidine.</p> |
