PURPOSE:To eliminate the disconnection of the liquid junction between an internal solution and an external solution to be inspected, by using a porous yarn, which comprises a hydrophilic polymer and of which the pore volume is a specific value or more, as the internal solution holder of a reference electrode. CONSTITUTION:A silver-silver chloride wire 7 is provided so as to be extended into a flexible fine tube 6, for example, a catheter and the leading end thereof is contacted with the porous yarn 8 received in the leading end of the tube 6. The silver-silver chloride wire and the porous yarn are fixed in the tube by a resin 9. The porous yarn 8 being the internal solution holder of a reference electrode comprises a hydrophilic polymer such as polyvinyl alcohol or an ethylene/ vinyl alcohol copolymer and requires a pore volume of 0.2cc/g or more. In thus constituted reference electrode, because the internal solution is held in the fine pores of the porous yarn and the silver-silver chloride wire is closely contacted with said solution and extended to a liquid junction port, there is no disconnection of the liquid junction between the silver-silver chloride electrode and a solution to be inspected. |
