摘要 PURPOSE:To make the whole engine small and light by setting the phase angle of crank pins on both-side banks in a particular condition and positioning the piston of one side bank at the top dead center when the piston of the other side bank is at the top dead center. CONSTITUTION:Cylinders 2, 3 are provided on the both side banks of a V-type cylinder block 1. The intersection point O of the axes l1, l2 of the cylinders 2, 3 coincides with the rotating axis of a crank shaft 4, and a nip angle alpha between the cylinders 2, 3 is set nearly between 140 deg. and 180 deg.. The centers O1, O2 of crank pins 13, 14 are mutually displaced in the peripheral direction, and the phase angle beta between them is set, equally to the nip angle, i.e., nearly between 140 deg. and 180 deg.. Thereby, when the piston 2 of a bank on one side is at the top dead center, the piston 3 on the other side bank is also positioned at the top dead center. Accordingly, an ignition system can be commonly used by each cylinder, to reduce the number of parts, attaining a desired end.
