<p>Macroalgae propagates are cultivated using a clean core of plastic material which is inserted in an expandible netting. Mature reproductive macroalgae are loosely packed in the space surrounding the core and bounded by the netting. The packed macroalgae are placed in an environment conducive to growth to establish propagates. The adult plants are removed and the propagates are cultivated in an environment conducive to growth. Pref. this consists of a protected, artificially or naturally lighted, moisture-charged atmos. - Freshwater or marine plants may be grown under controlled conditions. Examples include green and brown algae, stone worts, liverworts, mosses, ferns and flowering plants. EPAB- EP--35611 B The method of cultivating freshwater or marine macrophytes involves wetting the macrophytes with their natural environment water by spraying, to maintain a film on non-roof portions. The method then comprises maintaining the macrophytes in a controlled atomospheric environment in a specified position. - In this position, water-charged air (caused by the spraying) is permitted free circulation in and about the macrophytes.</p> |
