IMPROVEMENTS IN A COLUMN AND A METHOD FOR REMOVING VINYL CHLORIDE FROM AN AQUEOUS SLURRY OF POLYVINYLCHLORIDE PARTICLES

Column for contacting a slurry with a gas comprising a plurality of trays arranged one above the other, each of the trays being provided with openings for the passage of gas and with at least one discharge device for slurry extending above and below the pertinent tray. To prevent clogging of the tray openings by solid particles in the slurry the trays are so arranged that the distance between the upper end of a discharge device of a tray and the lower surface of the next upper tray is between 50 and 250 mm.
