<p>PURPOSE:To collect and clean carbon particles contained in an exhaust gas while increase the life of a filter by providing said filter in the exhaust system of an engine and providing a combustion equipment on the inlet side of said filter, being directed to the filter side. CONSTITUTION:The exhaust manifold 2 of an engine 1 is connected to an exhaust pipe 4 through a muffler 3 and a cleaning device A. In the purifying devide A, a filter 6 is provided in a cylindrical body 5 forming an inlet chamber 7 and an outlet chamber 8, and a combustion equipment 9 is provided on the inlet chamber 7 while the exhaust pipe 4 is connected to the outlet chamber 8. In the combustion equipment 9, fuel injected from a nozzle 14 is burned by means of a glow plug 15 to blow a flame into the filter 6, which is controlled by a control unit 19 based on the detected signals of sensors 20-22. Thereby, carbon particles in an exhaust gas can be collected and cleaned while carbon particles deposited on the filter 6 can be burned, increasing the life of the filter 6.</p> |
