PURPOSE:To enable color recording with high image quality, by changing the movement of a thermal head and the rotary speed of a platen roller to a recording mode on the basis of the detection signal from a first sensor and determining the supply timing of a current to the thermal head on the basis of the detection signal from a second sensor. CONSTITUTION:When recording paper 1 reaches the position opposed to a first sensor 12, this state is detected by said sensor 12 to input the detection signal thereof to a controller 14. This controller 14 outputs a control signal to a head driving mechanism 6 in synchronous relation to the detection signal from the first sensor 12 or after a predetermined time to allow a thermal head 3 to move from a non-printing position C' to a printable position C and outputs a control signal for altering a speed to a roller driving mechanism 9 to change over the rotary speeds of a recording paper feed roller 7 and a platen roller 8 from a high speed to a low speed. When the recording paper 1 reaches the position opposed to a second sensor 13, this state is detected by said sensor 13 to input the detection signal to the controller 14 which, in turn, outputs a current supply signal to the thermal head 3 in synchronous relation to the detection signal from the second sensor 13 or after a predetermined time to perform printing operation. |
