PURPOSE:To enable a movement while maintaining a fixed spacing and enable adjustment of the spacing, by a construction wherein a scale and a slider of an induction are oppositely provided so that they can be moved relatively to each other and the spacing between the scale and the slider can be varied. CONSTITUTION:When a carrier 2 is reciprocated in the directions of arrows A, the motor is transmitted to a block 7 through a shaft 9, and the slider 5 is moved in the direction of the arrows A while maintaining a fixed spacing between it and the scale 4 by a bearing 8. Since the scale is provided with rectangular patterns, when an electric current with a certain frequency is passed therein, magnetic fields with the same frequency is generated around the patterns. When the slider 5 traverses the magnetic fields, induced currents are generated on the patterns of the slider 5, so that the position of the carrier 2 is detected by measuring the quantity of the induced current and the variations there of with time. A flat plate 6 and the block 7 can be fitted to a bottom part of a base frame 11 as a unit, and the adjustment of the spacing by the bearing 8 can be easily performed in the exterior of the device. |
