The invention relates to a cam with particular functional surface and to an assembly provided with at least one such cam. This cam is characterised in that its functional surface is a surface of equal slope of directrix comprising arcs centred at one point, of constant polar radii, with monotonic increases and monotonic decreases, whose arcs of variable polar radius correspond to a definition in which the shape parameters of the equation of the arcs with variable polar radius directly exploit physical subjections. Application to the mechanical industry and especially to volumetric machines.
